What is your favorite subject that you like to teach?
I love teaching Math, Writing, and Literature. What is your favorite color? My favorite color is chocolate brown. Are you a mom? Yes! I have two teenage boys, Alex & Drew. When did you become a teacher? I got my teaching credential way back in 1993. I taught for nine years until I had my children. After taking a few years off, I returned to teaching – from home! What was your favorite subject when you were a kid?
I loved creative writing and art! Still do. |
What are your favorite books? I'm an avid reader of middle grade fiction, so this is a tricky question to answer. The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo, As Brave as You by Jason Reynolds, and Marshfield Dreams by Ralph Fletcher are three chapter books that I love. I also enjoyed the How to Train Your Dragon series because it's super exciting and hilarious!
Who was your favorite teacher? Can I only pick one? I LOVED my elementary teachers - Mrs. Vied, Mrs. Villa, Mrs. Lyons, Mr. Stansbury, Mr. Chappell. They were all amazing! In high school, my favorite teacher was Mr. Burg. I took all of his literature courses because he made learning fun. My favorite college professor was Candy Boyd. She was a vivacious and energetic reading teacher, who was also a children's book author! Can you see where I get my love of literature? All of these teachers made me who I am today. They are why I am a teacher! |

What’s your favorite animal? My favorite animal is a sea otter. When I was little, I would sit on the beach while my dad went scuba diving for abalone. Whenever he would dive in Monterey, the curious sea otters would pop out of the water to say hello!
Do you like green eggs and ham? I do! I like them, Sam I Am! Have you ever been in a play? And what play is your favorite? Yes, when I was in 4th grade, I played Uncle Sam in a school play. My only line was, “Splendid!” My favorite play is Annie. Who taught you how to be silly? My relatives, I guess. I come from a long line of silly people. I’ve got them on both sides of the family! |
Have you ever been on a cruise ship? No, but that sounds like fun!

What is your favorite movie and why? Monsters, Inc. I love the whole concept of monsters hiding in our closets and using our screams as a source of energy. Plus, the characters are too cute! What are you looking forward to teaching this year? I can't wait to share picture books with you because I know they will inspire your writing! I'm also looking forward to STEM challenges. My favorite pets are Vamp and Gray Gray because I had them for a long time. My favorite fairy tales are Peter Pan and Rapunzel. Were you a cute baby? My parents think so. Do you like cheesecake? I do! I especially like chocolate chip cheesecake with an Oreo crust. Do you like your job? I love my job! I am lucky to work with such amazing kids everyday! |

What is your favorite sport? My favorite sport to play is tennis and my favorite sport to watch is baseball.
What do you like most about your job? My students, Zoom classes, and my commute! What is your favorite food and drink? My favorite food is paella, a Spanish dish that my mom makes (that's my cute mom on the left). Whenever she comes to visit, she brings her little bottle of saffron because she knows I will request it! My favorite drink is a thick chocolate mint milkshake. Okay, now I’m hungry. |
