Follow your Daily Plan and complete all of your lesson assignments each day. If you get behind, finish overdue lessons and missing assignments as weekend homework. No jumping ahead or falling behind this year. If you need help, let Mrs. Sol know!
I know there is A LOT to cover in each lesson on the OLS. As learning coaches, you can mix things up a bit. Instead of doing everything listed within the lesson, check to see what the lesson or unit objectives are first. As long as your student is mastering the objectives, you can modify the instruction to suit student needs.
Have you noticed that there is a lot of reading and writing across the subject areas? Is that taking a long time to complete? Well, instead of reading the information and answering the questions on paper, read it together and discuss the questions verbally. Do a few problems in math or an online math game instead of a whole page of problems. Start with the spelling test and only practice the missed words. Watch a movie instead of reading about an event in history. Teach the lesson in a way that is interesting for the student (and for you!). Check for understanding. If your student is “getting it,” mark the lesson complete! Then you can put more time into the lessons/concepts/subjects your student is struggling with.
